2006 MLS Salary Information
Fans of MLS, Steve Goff delivers for you. His 2006 MLS salary information is a great resource, and the coverage is stunning given the amount of information he's able to get (sure, it doesn't contain bonuses, option years, etc... but given how secretive MLS has been on this stuff, this is marvelous). Great, great stuff.

For the inquiring mind, it adds up to $27.4 million for guarenteed salaries.
It's ridicululous what players get for just kicking a ball about. Players are getting really greedy, for example here in the uk the average wage is like £50,000 a week that's like a $100,000. Theres this one dude whos refusing to sign a new contract with his current team because he feels he "deserves" more, apparenttley £60,000 a-week isn't enough and he wants £65,000 (WTF?) despite being injured through out most of the season.
On the other hand, $11,900 doesn't go real far in Washington DC. You've got to love the sport to play for that. And you've got to have another job.
Anon -- I'm with you. From looking at DC United's salary list, I have no problem with six figures for the top players. I do have a problem with 11K for developmental contracts. If you're sticking around for 11K, you're a better person than I. That's gotta be tough.

Sooooo...how is Chivas USA under the cap again? Not that I'm complaining, it's great to see Chivas spending money considering they make so much money on their investment (game revenues, jerseys and memorabilia, corporate sponsorships). But there is clearly a double standard here.
It's nothing that we didn't know already, except for specifics.
What are some of the other jobs the $11k players have? Doesn't the training and travel schedule pretty much screw up your ability to hold another job?
