Unified Blog Theory

First, why did no one tell me Dan Loney has a blog? Giving Dan Loney a blog is one of those inherently obvious choices, like Sean Connery as Indiana Jones' dad. You see it in your head, you think it'll be good, and then the execution is even better. Thank goodness.

We also now have a Chivas-USA blog. Combined with the the addition of some other blogs for LA and other blogs at The Offside, and throwing in Soccer y Futbol for Houston, you pretty much a blog covering each MLS team out there. That's great, and I believe the first time there's even been an attempt at that. Awesome.

Thanks for the link. Again.(Seriously. Makes my day.)

Does this year feel to anyone else like the year when MLS will explode into the public consciousness? It feels to me that there's a confluence of factors (starting with but not limited to Beckham) leading in the direction of credibility and public awareness. For me it's Beckham, it's blogs, it's the huge number of enthusiastic fans at the bar I was at for the US-Mexico game last month...

Or am I delusional? Tell me it's not just wishful thinking on my part.

Like Laurie said, thanks for the link!!

And I would have to also agree, regardless of what each person's feelings are towards Becks being brought in, the fact is we are seeing a great increase in "public awareness" and a growing community representing the MLS. I am glad to be a part of this and can't wait to see where this goes. As more people become aware of the MLS and more people work together we will see the growth of this league to something great.

We are at the cusp of great things to come, and with the season just around the corner, I can only imagine what will happen. Now if we can get the interim tag taken of Bradley all things would be great.

Thanks again,

David.

I don't know about it exploding (that's the British pessimist in me), but I think bloggers are going be key if MLS is going to push on successfully - talk radio and other mainstream media outlets (at least in my city, Chicago) aren't going to pay much attention to the Fire or MLS, so we're going to have to generate the interesting writing and coverage it needs ourselves.

So it's definitely encouraging to see every MLS team now has a blogger (the quality is high, too).

MLS certainly has a potential to explode, there are more teams this year than ever before, better television contract than ever before, more American soccer fans in general, and having the ability to sign big-name players is a great opportunity (although not too many signed to date, just wait for summertime when Figo's contract is up or Angel's).

This will be a good year for MLS, I'm confident in that.
