so wait... Chivas rematch? that doesn't make any sense.

why invite two teams to a tournament based on their performance in another tournament and then restage the exact same matchup in an early round that the previous tournament had in the semifinal? why bother inviting them at all if one's going to eliminate the other right off the bat?

i think United can beat Chivas fair and square, but i think chances would be better against an unfamiliar team that might be a bit more susceptible to being snuck up on. Chivas will know they have to play to win.

this does mean that United gets another opportunity to sell out RFK with Chivas fans, though.

If indeed we're playing Chivas again, I'm a little disappointed.

And was it really necessary to invite what's got to be half of the Brazilian league?

I look at that list, and I think,
"We're out of our league."

Chivas rematch is a chance for revenge. The first two games were close. If DCU can pull out the series win and go on that will be quite a statement. Plus DCU may benefit from playing a team that it has played before. Vamos United!

Oscar: Do you have any idea who United plays if they beat Chivas? Or does it get reseeded after the round?

If we beat Chivas, we get the winner of a Brasil-Argentina matchup, but it WILL NOT be Boca or River. Also, the winner of Sudamericana gets into the World Club Championship this year, so this will be our second bite at the apple, and provides a little extra incentive. Just one more reason why this tournament is so important...

I'm not complaining about it, but how can the tournament organizers justify giving the third best team from CONCACAF a bye into the round of 16? This is, after all a SOUTH American championship. If my team was one of the teams that has to play in a qualifying round while United gets to wait until a later round before joining in, I'd be rather upset.

Erbol is an online newsletter (Periodico Digital) from La Paz, Bolivia (http://www.erbol.com.bo/)

Here is the quote from that site:
So Chivas plays DC in the second stage.

And now it is posted on the Chivas official web site:
http://www.chivascampeon.com/noticia/2044/

It's also now in El Informador, the local Guad newspaper:

I am a Chivas fan and friend of Omar Bravo..so looking forward to the rematch from CONCACAF.

The winner of this tournament does NOT go to the World Club Championship.

Also, this is NOT the South American championship. It's more like the UEFA Cup of South America
